Our Orchards & Bees

Our orchards are tucked within historic Wood Colony, located in California’s Central Valley, just east of San Francisco.  This area is known for having some of the most fertile soil in the world.  The combination of fertile ground, hot summers, and cold enough winters for the trees to go dormant, all work together to create the perfect environment for growing a beautiful and bountiful almond tree. Our ranches, for which we refer to as East Blue, and Center Blue, were purchased by the Bohn family in 1992 and developed into a beautiful almond orchard. West Blue was added to the orchards in 2014 and has also been planted into a budding new almond orchard. These orchards produce premium quality almonds through an integrated method of traditional, state-of-the-art, and sustainable farming practices. We believe we are to be good stewards of this earth and value responsible and sustainable farming for fertile ground to be passed on to the generations to come.

EAST BLUE

Our East Blue Orchard was planted in 2008. The non-pareil variety is cross pollinated with Fritz and matures into a plump meaty nut that is delicious for snacking.

CENTER BLUE

Just next door, our Center Blue Orchard was planted in 2011. The non-pareil variety is cross pollinated with Fritz and matures into a plump meaty nut that is delicious for snacking.

WEST BLUE

Our West Blue Orchard is the neighboring acres, and our newest orchard. This non-pareil variety was planted in 2014, cross pollinated with Monterey and Aldrich, and is now in full production.

WOOD COLONY HONEY & BEES

Our bees are moved throughout the year to various fields and orchards in this valley to maximize bee health and help with pollination. Almost one-third of the world’s food crops depend on honeybees, and Bohn Farms is proud to be a part of caring for healthy, happy bees.
